Figure Sculpture in clay

This course introduces the technical concerns of clay sculpture including hollowing out and preparation for kiln firing. Participants will learn how to handle clay, developing an understanding of the capabilities of the medium itself, in capturing a likeness of the model. Learning to see the subject in three dimensions heightens the understanding of form and proportion. Instructive demonstrations are presented throughout.
Participants should have four or five clay sculptures completed by the end of the course ready for firing.
A course suitable for beginners as well as those already experienced.
